MUD 460 Recreation Master Plan in Harris County, Texas
Project Highlights
Harris County MUD No. 460 Recreation Master Plan is a comprehensive planning initiative that establishes a long-term vision for parks, trails, recreation, and open space throughout the district. BLA worked closely with the District to evaluate existing facilities, identify future recreational opportunities, and develop a phased implementation strategy that enhances connectivity, promotes healthy lifestyles, and maximizes the value of district-owned land.
A cornerstone of the master plan is the T2 Trail, a signature shared use path that has generated significant community support and regional partnerships. The project has received pledged funding from the local TIRZ 8 and continues to build momentum through collaboration with multiple public agencies and community stakeholders. The master plan also envisions a future community center designed to serve as a central gathering place for residents, with strong partnership interest from neighboring organizations to expand recreational programming and community services.
Beyond these signature initiatives, the master plan identifies opportunities for destination parks, dog park, nature-based recreation, playgrounds, fitness amenities, neighborhood gathering spaces, and enhanced detention pond corridors that integrate recreation with existing drainage infrastructure. Serving as a roadmap for future capital improvements, the plan prioritizes projects, identifies grant funding opportunities, and guides long-term implementation, positioning the District to leverage partnerships and outside funding to transform its vision into lasting community assets.
